Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has inaugurated its first branch in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region, marking a strategic expansion aimed at improving financial accessibility and supporting local economic development.
This development reflects the Bank’s ongoing commitment to building inclusivity and economic empowerment as part of its broader retail strategy.
During the inauguration, Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, lauded the Bank’s investment in the Region and called on local entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the financial products and services now available to them.
“This is my first official assignment since my appointment, and I am delighted to witness such a significant development. The government‘s dedication to empowering women entrepreneurs resonates with Republic Bank’s mission here. I look forward to the bank playing a key role in supporting market women and nurturing local enterprises,” he said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Togbe Anikpi, Dufia Ho-Heve, expressed his enthusiasm for the bank’s arrival, commending its leadership for their foresight.
He said Ho is experiencing rapid growth, but youth unemployment remains a pressing issue. “I urge Republic Bank to focus on job creation and to support local businesses. Our community is ready to collaborate to ensure this partnership drives progress and prosperity”.
Republic Bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Benjamin Dzoboku, noted the bank’s long-standing history and dedication to innovation, customer service, and community engagement. He shared insights into the legacy of Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL), the parent company of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, which boasts a rich history spanning over 187 years.
“This new branch underscores our commitment to providing the people of Ho with customized financial solutions, including SME support, mortgage facilities, investment products, credit cards, and retail banking services. We are not just here to do business; we are here to be partners in progress,” he affirmed.
Mr. Dzoboku also addressed concerns about youth unemployment, noting that the dynamic youth population of the Volta Region inspired the bank to recruit most of its new staff locally.
“As a bank dedicated to economic development, we recognize the untapped potential within the Volta Region. Our presence here is not just about expanding our footprint; it’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of the youth, women entrepreneurs, and local business owners,” he emphasized.
Importantly, the Ho branch will offer a comprehensive range of services, including business financing, digital banking solutions, mortgage products, and specialized offerings for women entrepreneurs.
