Prince David Osei Tags Hon. Lydia Alhassan as Ungrateful and throws his Support for NDC's John Dumelo for Ayawaso West

In a surprising turn of events, Ghanaian actor and politician Prince David Osei has announced his support for his colleague, John Dumelo, in the upcoming general election.

John is contesting for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main rival of Prince’s preferred party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This decision comes despite Prince David Osei’s strong ties to the NPP, where he actively supports Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other NPP parliamentary candidates.

In a candid interview with Serwaa Amihere on GHONE TV, the renowned actor revealed that his choice to back John Dumelo stems from a sense of disappointment with the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Lydia Alhassan. According to Prince, he felt unappreciated by Alhassan after his previous efforts to campaign for her. This experience has led him to shift his support to Dumelo, a colleague in the creative industry and a friend.

When asked why he is taking such a risky decision, the movie star averred that his decision to back Dumelo is rooted in his desire to see someone from the creative arts industry represent their interests in Parliament.

“If John goes to Parliament it’s one of us. It’s a representation of the creative arts industry. We stood on platforms to campaign for the woman the last time and she was ungrateful. So even do am fully blooded NPP, I will campaign for John,” he said.

He boldly stated that he doesn’t care about the backlash from supporting a candidate from the opposition. His loyalty to his friend and his belief in the importance of having a creative industry representative in Parliament outweigh party allegiance.

This endorsement adds an intriguing layer to the already competitive race for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency seat, highlighting the personal connections and industry ties that can influence political decisions.
