MTN Ghana, CalBank, Enterprise Group Lead Notable Stock Price Movements

Trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on Thursday, January 30, 2025, saw six stocks making moves, with some climbing steadily and others making big jumps.

Topping the charts was NewGold Issuer Ltd. (GLD), which gained GH¢7.17, closing at GH¢421.96. A total of 333,000 shares were traded, worth GH¢140,511.60.

Next in line was TotalEnergies Ghana (TOTAL), adding GH¢0.37 to close at GH¢13.37.

MTN Ghana (MTNGH), one of the busiest stocks of the day, gained GH¢0.05, closing at GH¢2.75. The telecom giant saw 8,067,020 shares traded, totaling GH¢22,149.45.

Enterprise Group PLC (EGL) added GH¢0.07, closing at GH¢2.05, with 2,800,000 shares changing hands, valued at GH¢5,733.00.

Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI) and CalBank PLC (CAL) saw smaller increases, each gaining GH¢0.01. ETI closed at GH¢0.38, with 5,000,000 shares traded, totaling GH¢2,000.00, while CAL ended at GH¢0.39, with a massive 54,928,080 shares traded, amounting to GH¢21,489.78.

By the close of trading, GLD emerged as the biggest gainer, while ETI and CAL saw the smallest increases but remained highly active in trading volumes.

Market Performance Overview

The GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) closed at 5,227.70, reflecting overall market movements. The Financial Stock Index stood at 2,472.89, while the total market capitalization reached GH¢117,148.99 million.

Trading activity remained active, with a total volume of 160,185.00 shares exchanged across various stocks.
