Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, the Chairman of the National Council of Elders for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has contributed to the party’s campaign in the Upper West Region.
He donated 1,000 bags of rice, 1,000 boxes of mackerel, and 1,000 gallons of cooking oil.
This donation is intended to support the feeding of election officials from the NDC, ensuring they are well-nourished as they remain at the polling stations on December 2 and 7 during the general election.
The aim is to facilitate a smooth election process without giving any undue advantage to their opponents.
During the handover of the items to the NDC in Wa on November 27, 2024, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu emphasized the party’s readiness to secure a victorious outcome for John Dramani Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates in the Upper West Region.
He took this opportunity to caution party supporters against voting “skirt and blouse,” urging Ghanaians to vote decisively for the NDC to regain power.
In response, Abdul Nasir Saani, the Upper West Regional Chairman of the NDC, expressed gratitude to Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu’s generous gesture. He assured him that the party leadership would ensure election officials are well-fed during the electoral exercise.
Saani also voiced concerns about the trend of “skirt and blouse” voting in the region but noted that the party has engaged with disgruntled members who are considering voting for the NDC presidential candidate while choosing a different party’s parliamentary candidate.
