Ayuom residents threaten to boycott 2024 polls over abandoned road project

Residents of Ayuom in the Bosomtwe District are threatening to boycott the upcoming December polls over an abandoned road project in the area.

The community is demanding the finishing of a critical road network, particularly after the construction of three bridges connecting Ayuom, Kotei, and Deduako.

The partially completed bridge has been left unfinished, leaving surrounding roads in a deplorable and dangerous state.

Residents expressed frustration over the lack of progress, citing challenges they face due to the abandoned project.

“We are tired of empty promises,” said a resident. “If the authorities don’t complete this project, we will boycott the December polls.”

Another added, “I have lived in Ayuom all my life, along with my family. Residents here in Bosomtwe vote, but it is sad to go through this ordeal when the election is fast approaching. We will not vote if the road is not constructed.

“We face a big challenge because our children risk drowning. Nana Akufo-Addo and Osei Adutwum, it is your responsibility to get this road done. Both regional ministers hail from this district, yet our roads are still in terrible condition.”

Residents are calling on authorities to urgently address the situation, or they will boycott the December polls.
